Thinking about Eloping but not sure what that means to you?

So, what is an elopement?

There are so many misconceptions about eloping that it is no wonder so many people still believe elopements are only for couples who want to secretly runaway and tie the knot. But that’s not the case! An elopement is an intimate wedding where the focus is solely on the couple in a location that is truly special to them. The elopement can happen anywhere and anytime, from backyards, mountain tops, ocean cliffs or to another country. Intimate weddings generally have around 25 guests or less. Some couples have their closet family members and friends, while others only have the officiant and the photographer witness their special day.

FAQ

Why do I need more than 1-2 hours coverage?

  • This is your wedding day and it deserves so much more than 1-2 hours of coverage. This is the day that establishes the anniversary date that you celebrate for years to come. Why should elopements be any shorter than a traditional wedding? Would you hire a photographer for only 1-2 hours at a traditional wedding? Absolutely not!

Does my elopement have to be adventurous?

  • Elopements don’t have to be adventurous. If you aren’t an adventurous couple there are so many other options on where to spend your wedding day such as vineyards, nature reserves, farms, and the list goes on. Whilst adventurous elopements are my absolute favourite, this is your day and you can spent it doing whatever you love!

What can a full day elopement look like?

Now you may be wondering what to do for an all-day elopement, isn’t it just a ceremony with vows and some photos after? As mentioned, this is your most special day. You have the opportunity to create your dream wedding.

To help you really visualise what your dream elopement could look like, I would like you to do this exercise with your partner. Look into each other’s eyes and start to image your dream day, from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed. Forget the cost, logistics, and boundaries. Begin to think about the following questions. Where would you go? What things do you love to eat? What would you love to experience? What season do you love most? Do you love the mountains, desert, rainforest, or ocean? What’s on your bucket list? What makes your heart race and stomach fill with butterflies? Be open and honest with each other to help craft your dream elopement.

The beauty of elopements is that you can do anything! The possibilities are endless. Want to climb a mountain? Great, I’ll bring my hiking boots! Or perhaps you want to go barefoot on the beach at sunrise? Maybe you want to exchange vows where you got engaged. You could go camping, sit by the camp fire and watch the stars. If you aren’t the adventurous type, you could have a picnic at your favourite spot, or even spend time at a fancy resort and eat delicious food that your personal chef has cooked. Eloping is your day, your way.
